Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Ubisoft might bring back the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game. Some of you might not have seen the best movie ever made based on the best comic book series ever made. Lucky for you, there are multiple avenues of acquiring either the movie or the comic book, both of which are equally good and so worthy of your time that you should really drop everything that you’re doing to consume this media immediately.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World was a tie-in to the movie and comic book. Recently, Twitter started a watch party for the movie that drew the comic book’s author, Bryan Lee O’Malley, into the fray. O’Malley penned the tweet asking for the game to be brought back and although he didn’t tag Ubisoft, the company’s official Twitter account somehow found O’Malley’s tweet and replied with a “thinking face emoji.”
If the game were really dead, it would make more sense for Ubisoft to either ignore the tweet or respond with a negative but the thinking face is definitely not a yes, but it does leave the door open. If anything, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is on Ubisoft’s collective mind.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World uses a combination of pixel art and chiptune music, composed by the innovative band Anamanaguchi, to evoke this sense of nostalgia. Real-time co-op play, high FPS, and realistic graphics are big in gaming right now but there’s always a place for reminiscing about the past, and about the games many people loved to play. This could be a great time to bring back an homage to old-style gaming, while many of the people who were coming of age in the pixel and chiptune age have extra time on their hands to play right now.
If Ubisoft does re-release the game, the hope is that it might feature some improvements, but many fans would likely take the game as-is on current platforms. Either way, there’s a cult following that would no doubt love to play the game.
