Ninja is hosting a weekly Fortnite tournament series on Mixer

Ninja finally stretches his virtual legs months after jumping into Mixer. He’s launching his first produced live series, Ninja Battles with Fortnite, on his Mixer channel…

starting May 28 at 3 p.m. The weekly show will see 60 of Fortnite top players and “gaming personalities” competing to win a portion of a $ 400,000 prize pool. Loaded, the Ninja management company, has confirmed that some competitors will include World Cup winner Bugha, fellow streamer Mixer Ewok, Nick Eh 30 and others.

The six-week series should last until July, and you can follow it on individual station channels if you prefer your point of view.

It is not sure if this will attract more people to the Mixer, but that is not the only goal here. Ninja parted ways with Twitch for flexibility he couldn’t have, and he wasn’t just referring to high-profile endorsements. This shows an eagerness to change the familiar live stream formula and see if people will tune in more than the usual daily live streams.

It’s not clear exactly how this Fortnite tourney will be different from others than have come before it, but it’s another big move for Mixer, which signed Ninja away from Twitch in 2019, reportedly for somewhere between $20 and $30 million. Since then, it’s signed other major players including Shroud and King Gothalion, but this tournament series is its first big move into competitive gaming.

Ninja Battles Featuring Fortnite will debut at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET on May 28 and will run weekly for a total of six weeks, with each new episode live streamed on Mixer.
