Microsoft says the Final Fantasy, Microsoft has confirmed that a number of Final Fantasy games that were originally scheduled to join the Xbox Game Pass last year are still arriving in service. At X019 in November 2019, the platform owner announced that ten games from the Final Fantasy franchise would join Xbox Game Pass over the following year.
However, TrueAchievements notes that only four games have been added from the list planned so far: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, Final Fantasy IX, and Final Fantasy XV.
Still missing from the X019 list is Final Fantasy X: HD Remastered, Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remastered, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII games are available for purchase Individually.
In a statement, Microsoft indicated that the remaining Square Enix titles will arrive on Game Pass “in 2021 and beyond.” A Microsoft spokesperson said: “As we announced on X019, we are excited to introduce the Final Fantasy franchise to gamers with the Xbox Game Pass.
We’ve been doing this throughout 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021 and beyond. We look forward to announcing specific release dates for more Final Fantasy titles in the future. ”
Microsoft recently revealed the next wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass for consoles, PC, and Android. They include Injustice 2 (Android, console, and PC) on January 7, Torchlight III (Android and console) on January 14, and What Remains of Edith Finch (PC) on January 14.
The latest additions join titles added to the Game Pass in December, including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (console and mobile), Between Us (PC), and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (PC).
Effective December 15, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate PC subscribers have acquired an EA Play membership at no additional cost, giving members unlimited access to full versions of select EA Catalog games. Game Pass Console subscribers have been enjoying new features since November 10.
