Estranged: Act II Game Review Content PC Version

Estranged: Act II

Estranged: Act II follows the story of a fisherman, stranded on a mysterious island during a violent storm. Little does he know his adventure has just begun, and the island is home to more than it first seems…

About The Game:

Loved the first game. Played it years ago. It was actually one of my very first 100%, so it holds a fond place in my heart, because of this I was delighted to hear about it’s sequel. At first I was going to obtain it’s one and only achievement then shelf the game. Instead though I decided to give the story a whirl. Glad I did now!

Estranged: Act 2 is a large improvement on its predecessor. The developer could have quite easily done a copy paste of the first game in the Source Engine. Added a few new gadgets/features, new story line, people would have ate it up easy peasy. Though that engine is old and hasn’t made any improvements since Portal 2. Instead they decided to move out of the stone age and evolve with the times. Here we have a brand new game in Unreal Engine 4. I can respect this developers drive to be better and push the envelope.

The graphics are sharp and the attention to detail inside some of the buildings such as the offices were as if you studied these locations meticulously or had spent a fair bit of time in them yourself. It was nice as well finding and listening to the audio logs throughout the game, giving me a bit of back story while not halting my progression through the levels.
