Digimon Survive Removes January 2021, Recently, there has been a bit of confusion about the release date of Digimon Survive, the upcoming tactical role-playing title being developed by Witchcraft. While the game’s official website still lists the expected release year as 2020, that date was recently changed to January 2021 on Toei Animation Europe’s website, though there was neither confirmation from the developer nor official announcement of a delay.
Now January 2021 has been removed from the Toei Animation Europe site and no release date for Digimon Survive is listed at all. When the Western version of the game was first announced in 2019, Toei Animation’s official press release stated that it would be available on current gen platforms sometime in 2020. Whether the change in date on the website was made in error or simply a show of uncertainty is not clear.
There’s been plenty of back and forth concerning the release of Digimon Survive. According to an official statement from a Bandai Namco representative, they stated that the previously reported on “switch from 2020 to TBA is a typo on Famitsu’s side” and that the game is still slated for a 2020 release. Digimon Survive Removes This is also backed up by the official Toei Animation schedule released by a Chinese game site, which reinforces the release date.
In a past update, two other characters made their debut along with a well of info concerning the Free Action mechanic. There were other screenshots of the world and another character revealed before then. Bandai Namco also released a developer diary starring producers Habu Kazumasa and Tsuzuki Katsuaki as they dug deep into the past, present, and future of Digimon video games. And of course this means they touched on Digimon Survive as well.
Digimon Survive, whenever it does finally hit store shelves, will be a single-player survival strategy RPG in which a group of teenagers out on a camping trip find themselves mysteriously transported to the world of Digimon. Players will have to learn to survive in a world full of monsters using different gameplay modes that combine elements from old-school tactical RPGs and adventure games. These include drama parts to advance the story and battle parts that allow players to digivolve their Digimon.
Digimon Survive will be released on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
