Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects.
About The Game
Another LucasArts classic, remastered by Double Fine Productions, Day of the Tentacle is still probably the greatest point-and-click adventure game ever made. In this sequel to Maniac Mansion
The humour still holds up for a game made in the mid-90’s, the voice acting is still on the nose, the music is excellent, the puzzles while weird do for the most part make some quirky sense (except that damn making it rain puzzle), the art is good. It’s still the original Day of the Tentacle, which was an amazingly good game, and one that actually still holds up, unlike the Monkey Island series.
The remastered edition doesn’t actually add a great deal to the excellent original game; the updated graphics actually seem to lose something versus the original pixel art, but graphics modes can be switched between the two on the fly, meaning the player can pick which they prefer. The developer commentary is also rather basic; despite bringing together several LucasArts alumni, they don’t have a great deal to say about the game
