Camping is an outdoor activity involving overnight stays away from home in a shelter, such as a tent. Typically participants leave developed areas to spend time outdoors in more natural ones in pursuit of activities providing them enjoyment. To be regarded as “camping” a minimum of one night is spent outdoors, distinguishing it from day-tripping, picnicking, and other similarly short-term recreational activities. Camping can be enjoyed through all four seasons.
When I was about 11, we went to family camping at a national park we frequented. This year we were placed next to a large group of young adult couples, which we initially thought nothing of.
The first night, they partied pretty hard and kept us up until at least 2 am. My parents begrudgingly tolerated it but said if it happened the next night, they’d go over and confront them.
Well, sure enough, there they were partying hard and late the next night. So around 1:30 am, my dad goes over there and tells them that we (and other surrounding families) are trying to sleep. He told them you can stay up as late as you want and have fun, but you can’t be so loud and inconsiderate of others.
They initially listened to him. It got quiet for a bit. But we were soon awoken by a pretty loud, drunken, domestic argument between one of the couples. They were absolutely SCREAMING at each other. Camping, The girl would be crying, then screaming, then the guy would be screaming and screaming some more.
We laid there and listened for a while when at one point it was getting concerning, so my parents called the park and told them about it.
